The dates for the World Championships in Camouflage and Facepainting 2027 are officially confirmed: the event will take place on 2nd and 3rd July 2027 in Vipiteno/Sterzing, Italy.
The World Award in Camouflage is a unique highlight of the World Bodypainting Festival, inspired by the remarkable art technique in which models are painted to blend seamlessly into their surroundings. This category celebrates outstanding creativity, precision, and the fascinating power of optical illusion.
The World Championship in Facepainting places the focus on expressive facial design, technical excellence, and artistic storytelling on a smaller yet equally powerful canvas. Facepainting challenges artists to create striking and detailed works that captivate the audience through emotion, character, and imagination.
Due to the growing interest from artists around the world in both categories, the competition spans two full days, offering participants the opportunity to showcase their mastery of visual transformation -whether through large-scale camouflage illusions or intricate facepainting artworks.
Vipiteno/Sterzing is a picturesque town nestled in the Italian Alps. With its vibrant streets, medieval charm, and stunning mountain backdrop, the town looks like a scene lifted from a postcard. Its warm hospitality and historic atmosphere make it the ideal location for a competition where art and environment merge into one breathtaking experience.

/ World Awards in Camouflage, Facepainting & Jam Sessions
2 & 3 July 2027
2nd and 3rd July 2027 are our two main event days in Sterzing/Vipiteno.
On 2nd July, the World Championship in Camouflage will take place in and around the historic old town of Sterzing/Vipiteno. Artists will demonstrate their skills by blending their models into selected locations and surroundings, creating impressive illusions in the heart of the town.
At the same time, artists can join our Creative Bodypainting Jam Session. The Jam Session is all about creativity, exchange and enjoying the art of bodypainting together. Artists can paint freely, experiment with new techniques, connect with fellow creatives and simply be part of the inspiring atmosphere.
On 3rd July, the focus will be on the World Championship in Facepainting, taking place in the old town of Sterzing/Vipiteno. Once again, a Creative Bodypainting Jam Session will run alongside the competition, giving artists another opportunity to create, exchange ideas and enjoy painting together.
New this year: Participation in the Creative Bodypainting Jam Sessions is completely free of charge – no registration fee applies.
