The World Award: Camouflage Category is a unique highlight of the World Bodypainting Festival, inspired by the remarkable art technique where models are painted to seamlessly blend into their environment. Since its introduction in 2021, this category has celebrated outstanding creativity, precision, and the fascinating power of optical illusion.
Due to the growing interest from artists around the world, the competition now spans two full days, offering more participants the opportunity to showcase their mastery in visual transformation.
For the second time, the event will take place on 3rd & 4th July 2026 in Vipiteno/Sterzing, a picturesque town nestled in the Italian Alps. With its vibrant streets, medieval charm, and stunning mountain backdrop, it looks like a scene lifted from a postcard. The warm hospitality and historic atmosphere make it an ideal location for a competition where art and environment merge into one breathtaking experience.
The 2025 event truly struck a chord – with its vibrant atmosphere, stunning art, and enthusiastic audience – and was such a success that it’s already been confirmed by the city’s marketing team for 2026.
We’re thrilled to return to this beautiful South Tyrolean town to celebrate creativity, color, and international artistry once more.

July 3rd and 4th are our two main event days. The World Bodypainting Award in the camouflage category will take place in the old town of Sterzing/Vipiteno.
Artists will demonstrate their skills in this difficult category at 15 different locations in and around the old town of Vipiteno.
At the same time, artists will have the opportunity to give free rein to their creativity in a Creative Bodypainting Jam Session in the town. Here, artists have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other artists and paint freely, try out new techniques or simply enjoy the creative energy.
