The 25th anniversary of the WBF in Klagenfurt means a lot to us and together with our participants and visitors and our crew we will dedicate this meaning to our Ukrainian neighbors.
For the past 10 years, our WB Production team with organizer Alex Barendregt and his Ukrainian wife Anna were working in many East European countries. They organized events and educational programs in Kyiv and welcomed hundreds of participants at their events. For them, the Ukraine was not only a motherland but also a place for creativity, wonderful and open-minded people. They see Ukraine as a fast developing country with big talents, they love to create and improve their life. For the past 8 years it has been incredibly painful to watch how the invasion of russia has been proceeding and breaking apart the independent life of the Ukrainian folk.
To support the independence movement and to provide medical help we decided to use our platform and art festival for bringing awareness about the war in the Ukraine but also collect money for a very specific project.
During the festival, there will be donation boxes where you can also buy Ukrainian symbols. Moreover, 100% of all sold merchandise will be donated to that charity project.
For those who will not be able to attend the festival, you can donate online. Buy any product, or just transfer any amount, every euro is important and will help us.
Since festival director Alex Barendregt is also an active member of the Rotary Club Unteres Drautal - Paternion, the club also has a significant role in raising funds. In addition, members will be active on site and invite partner clubs in Carinthia and beyond to be part of the project. Since the outbreak of the war, the club and the Rotary community in Carinthia have made huge efforts to support the Ukrainian population.
The World of Bodypainting and its community will use the opportunity of the festival together with the local charity organization called “Ukrainer in Kärnten“, which works and cooperates with the Ukrainian Embassy in Austria. The most required help at the moment will be given to the city of Mykolaiv – the hot spot city that borders occupied Kherson. The city administration requested ambulances for the hospitals, as many of them keep on being destroyed by russian missiles and shots. There are no ambulances left in Ukraine, so we found dealer in Italy and we want to collect ~ 18 000 euros for at least 2 cars.
Ukrainians do not give up, let’s help them to stand for their independence and rights to be a free nation. Help us to save the lives of the Ukrainians together with the doctors!
