deutschland_kl In the 7th year of Culcha Candela's band history they are giving an awesome present to themselves and their fans: the brandnew studio- album! "Schöne Neue Welt", meaning "beautiful new world", will be released on the 28th of August and followed by an extended tour. 7 years of Culcha Candela stand for more than 600 live concerts, numerous TV and radio performances, the 4th studio album and the never ending will to carry the hot flame of culture out into the whole world.
Culcha Candela represents Hits and attitude! The 7 band members have the most contrastive roots, reaching from Korea, Uganda and Poland to Germany. Culcha Candela is fun, creating the desire to dance and enjoy life.
Culcha Candela also means "together": against racism and poverty, for education and more justice!

  • Dr. Alban - [Nigeria]
nigeria_kl I came to Sweden from Nigeria to study and become a dentist. In 1990 I met the legendary Denniz Pop at Alphabet Street. Even though I released my first single, I finished my education and became a legitimate dentist - "dr.alban". Alban realized his dream as an artist together with Denniz Pop. He released the double single "Hello Africa / No Coke" that exploded and became a smash hit. They followed up with the album "Hello Africa", "One Love", "Look Who's Talking", "Born In Africa" and "The Best Of" that reach a world wide public. Dr.alban has sold over 11 million albums and singles world wide! Alban dominated the Charts all over the world and with over 100 shows a year he is still going strong!

  • M.O.D. Millions of Dreads - Mundart Raggea Band  [Austria]

oesterreich_kl Picture a surf-loving party animal on stage. A bombastic side-kick next to him and an awesome band at his back. One sings in a Styrian dialect, the other in Patois, the band plays reggae. Unconventional? Well how else would a reggae band make it this far in a country like Austria?

  • Loonaloop - Live Electro Dance Band [Australia]

australien_kl Loonaloop are a live Australian electro dance band, who has been active on the international festival circuit since early 2003. The band has performed at festivals and clubs across the globe, boasting performances at some of the world's finest events such as Glastonbury (UK), Beach Bop (NL), Dance Valley (NL), Planet Roxy (CZ), Big Day Out (AUS), as well as many cultural festivals and dance party's. Best described as a live organic dance band, Loonaloop's music is an excursion into the various styles and genres of electronic music that are current in the modern dance scene, drawing on influences ranging from drum and bass, trance, house and electronica. The five piece line up is well renowned their intoxicating high energy performance and their ability to take the audience on an uplifting musical journey. Loonaloop's distinctive sound is driven by a combination of organic instruments (didgeridoo, violin, tabla, Perc) modern techniques, programming via computers etc. The live show includes drums, bass, vocals, Violin, Didgeridoo and keys to create a full, live sound.
Since completing their début album, Cleared 4 Take Off, they have toured in Australia, Europe and the UK consistently since, also performing at numerous popular festivals!

  • Gold Sounds [UK]
grossbritannien_kl Verily, Gold Sounds have achieved that of which the alchemists could only dream: the production of gold out of something which isn't gold - pure sound.
The end-product, lifted with tongs from a large, fat-spittering crucible, is the charming debut EP ‘Home Schooled', released in December 2009, consisting of four brandnew songs.
Together they rock, they roll, they soothe, they heal; they tend to "jam it to the bone". A calmness of spirit descends on the maelstrom of swirling nano vibes at the heart of their hip-but-not-too-hip crowds, sound doth become gold.

  • Brett Hunt -   [Australia]
australien_kl The album, titled "Corrugated Road", reflects more of his early influences, such as Neil Young, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, yet is distinctly Australian. Vikki Simpson from The Waifs says, "From the opening track to the kick-arse end, Corrugated Road is cool, cruisy and Australian. Makes me want to get back in the van and drive the endless highways."

Burnside (The Melvins, Grinspoon, The Sleepy Jackson) was named album of the year for 2003 by director John Carver of PBS Radio (Melbourne). The release was followed by a live recording of the track ‘Life's What You Make It', which featured on the CD compilation Night Out at the Basement Vol II, alongside artists such as John Butler, Jimmy Barnes and The Badloves. The track also made it to ABC National's high rotation and footage from the live version was broadcast on MusicMAXX.

oesterreich_kl Different styles and influences emerge as the remarkable Sound of the Safaris: Roots, Rock, Reggae, HipHop, Ska, Dub and Dancehall elements unite with gunfire patois lyrics and swinging refrains. Fluent changes and pointed breaks as well as groovy rhythms and the jam style of the live shows create the special vibe everyone needs to jump on...
The 8 members are working hard to get their first album ready and have played innumerable shows all around Austria!
So all fruits ripe... join the safaris on their ride!!!

  • Fii Vocal Artist - Michael Krappel  [Austria]
oesterreich_kl Solo artist Fii creates a sonic world all his own through the use of layered looping effects. Live in front of the audience, Fii weaves a song together strand by strand using lead vocals, rapping, drums, bass, electronic sounds and a palette of full harmonies. As a voice artist, he has played over 1000 shows on four continents, and achieved several awards for music and comedy in Austria, Switzerland, Germany and the U.S. Amazingly, it's not Fii's incredible range or vocal dexterity that garners the most praise, but rather the infectious energy of his performances. This live looping artist simply has to be heard to be believed. But get ready for a mosh pit up front. Fii's artistry will get you dancing!

  • Skaputnik [Austria]
oesterreich_kl Skaputnik - 9 musicians from upper Austria are combining Ska with different genres like rock, jazz, polka, funk and sometimes a bit of tango. Besides sparkling brasses, funky guitar-riffs and numerous instrumental solos, meaningful lyrics play an important part as well. Since April 2005 the band has played shows on the one hand as a headliner, on the other hand as support-act for bands like Panteon Rococo, New York Ska Jazz Ensemble, Bluekilla, Los PLacebos, Scrapy, The Staggers or Hot Pants Road Club.

oesterreich_kl P-Funk was founded in late 2008. Two innovative and creative heads loving electronic music found themselves. Their idea was to connect analogue instruments with digital audio processors.

With this unprecedented symbiosis between static electronic music and dynamic playing musicians P-Funk is going to be a high quality and energetic live performance for any party, event or even clubbing.

After several intensive jam sessions many new songs were created and now P-Funk is heading to present their unforgettable, glittering and sparkling live show in the whole world! The formation gets support at the WBF from the drumers of "Soundkistn"

oesterreich_kl Serve Chilled sounds like a freshly opened can full of viability, spirited energy and innovation...A Reggae/Dub - band with courage for the transformation of its own genes drawer. Groovy rhythms, catchy hooklines and massive bass lines are to be expected with their concerts. This band moves completely independent in the various Reggae worlds, but gets along without drinking red-stripe beer!

oesterreich_kl 5 Carinthian musicians making rock music in their own, interesting way, putting together the typical sound of 70ies/80ies rock guitars and their lyrics in Carinthian language.
But who or what is "Grufti"? - It is just the nickname of a comedian, who appeared 10 years ago as "Gravedigger of Millstatt" and got famous for his black humor. He founded the Band in 2007, smilingly calling himself "Ozzy Osbourne of Carinthia".
